Jamie Phillips is a highly experienced and widely respected collegiate coach with a long track record of developing successful teams and players. Currently the Head Coach of Men’s Soccer at Tompkins Cortland Community College (TC3), he stepped into the role in May 2023 after two standout years as the program’s top assistant. Under his leadership, TC3 has continued to strengthen its competitive identity and player-development culture. Phillips joined FLX United in Fall 2025, bringing a deep well of experience, a steady leadership style, and a proven track record of helping players reach their potential.
Coach Phillips’ soccer background is extensive. A Vestal High graduate and former member of Southern Connecticut State University’s NCAA Division II national championship team, he has coached at multiple levels of the game. His résumé includes more than a decade as Assistant Coach at Dryden High School and launching the Dryden Falcons club program.
TC3 Director of Athletics Mick McDaniel describes him as a coach who “knows all aspects of the game and what it takes to be successful, both on and off the field,” noting his exceptional influence on student-athletes since joining the college program.
At FLX United, Coach Phillips is committed to developing intelligent, confident, and technically sound players who understand the game’s demands at a deeper level. His coaching philosophy blends structure with creativity, teaching players how to solve problems, make sound decisions, and carry themselves with maturity and accountability. Known for his calm presence, clear communication, and unwavering support for his athletes, he helps players of all backgrounds grow with confidence, discipline, and a genuine love for the game.

Coach DJ Roberts is a highly respected and influential figure in the Ithaca soccer community. A former professional player with extensive coaching experience across youth, high school, college, and adult competitive levels, he played a pivotal role in helping shape FLX United during its infancy in Winter 2025. Known for his leadership, professionalism, and ability to elevate players quickly, he remains a central contributor to the club’s growth and identity. He holds a USSF National D License.
A former professional player, Roberts competed with AC Crusaders (2012–2015), Philadelphia Fury, Rochester Riverdogz (NPSL), Rochester Lancers, FC Krajnik, and GBFC. His coaching perspective has been molded by several of Ithaca’s most respected soccer minds, including Chris Thomas (former international player), Lamar Peters, and Maureen Whitehead of TC Waza.
Roberts has coached across every major level of the game, including college (Ithaca College Women’s Club; Mansfield University), high school (Ithaca High School Varsity Girls), and the adult competitive level (Gaffer City FC Women’s UPSL, 2024). He also brings extensive youth development experience through his leadership at DDP, IYSA, and TC Waza.
Roberts is a four-year collegiate player from Wells College, where he earned his B.A. in Economics and Management. His coaching philosophy centers on developing smart, confident, adaptable players who understand the game as deeply as they play it. He is known for his ability to connect with athletes of all backgrounds, challenge them with high standards, and build teams rooted in discipline, creativity, and mutual accountability. At FLX United, he brings intensity, insight, and a genuine commitment to helping every player grow both on and off the field.
